Technical Note on Fairing Shape

Download our new Technical Note titled Fairing Shape: The Pros and Cons of Popular Fairing Geometries.  Readers will learn about the V- and Y-shape teardrop profile, as well as U-shapes and long chord fairings.  It is important to design fairings properly to achieve low drag. Engineers must account for parameters such as body deformation which can occur under extreme current loading conditions and change the chord-to-thickness ratio of the device.  Other critical elements such as fairing flutter and flow separation points are also discussed in detail.
